The Importance of Water: Getting your Water Intake without the Headache of Drinking Plain Water

Often we don’t realize the importance of the small fortunes we have (i.e.: water), and we tend to take them for granted. Although we need water to survive, I don’t know too many people with love for water. I believe the love for water isn’t there because people don’t understand the importance of it. Most people only consume t enough water to get by or at least what they think is enough.

Believe it or not, water is said to be the make-up of more than fifty percent of our bodies. Therefore, on the contrary to most people’s belief water is needed to survive. The recommendation for a single adult person is at least eight 8oz glasses per day.

There aren’t many things we do in which we don’t use water. If we breathe or break a sweat, we are using water. Even in something as simple as digesting food, our bodies use water to assist us in that process. The water in our saliva helps to break down foods so that our bodies can absorb nutrients. Could you imagine the pain we’d probably be in without saliva to aid us in the process of digestion? Water also helps to prevent constipation by softening your stool.

Water is constantly dispersed throughout the body which is why it’s  important to continuously hydrate yourself throughout the day and even more if you tend to have an active physical lifestyle; by doing this, you will limit the risk of dehydration. Lack of water in the can also lead to the inability of the body being able to regulate one’s temperature.

Water is also said to improve the appearance of the skin. Some won’t agree with that; however, I have noticed the difference in my skin when I drink more water throughout the day. My favorite attribute of drinking an adequate amount of water is that I don’t have as many breakouts, and I can even see a difference in the glow that my skin gives when I consume the proper amount of water on a consistent basis.

Listed below are three ways, outside of drinking plain water, where you would be able to get the proper water intake.

•Infused water

Not only is this a delicious substitute to drinking plain water, but it naturally supports the body in ridding itself of fat cells. Infused water is also said to aid in boosting your metabolism.

The benefits of infused water are countless

*TIP: Drinking one full glass of water before eating will help you not to overeat; this is a great strategy to use if for those wanting to lose or maintain weight.

•Fruits and Vegetables

Eating more of the fruits and vegetables that have a high water content will assist with your water intake. This a lot less intimidating than having to worry about drinking eight glasses of water a day. Some of the fruits and vegetables that are high in water content include but are not limited to the following: watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, spinach, cauliflower, and eggplant.

•Flavored drinks

For an example (flavored water {Crystal Light}, fruit juices, tea, milk, etc.). All of these are examples of alternatives to get your water intake. However, for someone who is calorie counting or watching their weight, they may want to be extremely careful. There can be a lot of sugars found in the products mentioned above. One would want to be mindful in the sugars contained in a single serving of any of the before mentioned items.
