The Benefits of Cardio: How to Make Time Without Making Time

Swimming = Cardio

The benefits of cardio are immeasurable. Not only is cardio used to aid in weight loss but there are tons of medical benefits that you become privy to when you make cardio a part of you!

Some of the benefits include but are not limited to the following:

Benefits of an Increased Metabolism

Cardio helps to boost your metabolism which in turn contributes to burning more calories. Usually, the more intense your cardio is, the better chances are of burning more calories, dropping pounds and being able to notice a change, in your body, sooner rather than later.

Improved Heart Health through Cardio

It is possible to strengthen your heart through cardiovascular exercises.  Not exercising your heart can cause it to weaken over time but by performing different cardio exercises, it can help to avoid health issues arising in connection with your heart later down the down.

Stress Reliever

Much like other exercises, cardio can be used as a stress reliever. Exercise has been proven to be a direct link to stress and depression. I’ve even heard of it as being referred to Meditation in Motion. After a good cardio workout, most forget about the stress that they’ve experienced during the day.

These are just a couple of benefits to having a cardio routine.

Yes I know what you’re thinking…you would love to be able to fit cardio into your daily regimen but there is just not enough time during the day, right? Great! Allow me to help you with that.

When we think of cardio, most people automatically equate that having to go outside of their comfort zone to exercise. But, in actuality, cardio can be something as little as running or walking. Most people don’t even realize it but, walking and running is a huge part of cardio and you do that just going about your routine during the day. Cardio doesn’t have to be anything out of the ordinary. If you get up and walk to the restroom that is technically a form of cardio. If you get up in the morning and have to move around to get ready for work or school that is a kind of cardio. However, of course, the goal would be to eventually be able to incorporate a little more cardio here and there.

Shop til’ you drop…a few pounds that is!

Alternative Cardiovascular Exercises

Sure there are different kinds of cardio, but in its simplest form, cardio is anything that will increase your heart rate and gets your blood flowing. Therefore, if you’re not one that likes to do a lot of extra walking or running and you’d prefer to take a swim; hop in the pool and swim a few laps. That’ll be sure to get your heart pumping and blood flowing. Some may even like to shop. Well, guess what? Now you have a silver lining when going into the stores to spend all of your money. You can take pride in knowing that although you’re spending money, you’ll also be burning calories. Bike riding is also a great way to burn off calories. There are many things that you can do to incorporate different cardiovascular exercises into your everyday life. Just call out some activities, go down the list and pick one. I’m sure there’ll be some cardio involved.
